    Golf ball pistons

I hear and understand what your trying to say. My understand is most of the development is done through computer software. The computer does the work. You just have to test what it says works. I've yet to see any real definitive tests. They generally look for folks to buy the pistons to test...

I agree. The cost is flat out nuts. If they could prove without a dought the dimples themselves will save 5% on fuel over the life of the engine, plus improve the engines lifespan, then yes it's worth it for a guy that makes a living from his rig. It might take 200k miles to pay it's self...

    Golf ball pistons

I'm aware of Tim's pickup with SoA pistons. I've been following SoA for years. They tested them in the mining world. I'd like to see them build an engine with OEM pistons. Test it on an engine dyno, do all the fuel burn rate tests as well as emissions tests. Than take the same engine and swap...

They have their explanation for it. I think the biggest gain is from the coating and the gap less second ring.

    Cold start upgrades

I really like mine! What a difference it makes. Bigger battery cables as well. I plan on converting mine to use 1000CCA commercial batteries.

If they are as good as claimed, it would help bring the 7.3 closer to modern engines for DD and towing. Add a vgt turbo and it would be sweet.

S366 VS Full Force BASB Bell 300 series Turbo

I'm in need of a transmission and clutch to work properly. The plan is to switch it to auto. Other then that, it runs good.

    Cold start upgrades

Never did an intake heater. The 7.3 start surprisingly well if everything is fresh.

That could very well be! Learn something new everyday they say. Well, I just did!

    F-250 to F-550

Thanks for clearing that up. I wonder where I got the single turbo idea from?

    F-250 to F-550

The F-550 is a cab and chassis. The distance between the frame rails is narrower than a standard pickup. Plus they have a single turbo detuned 6.4. Not a problem if you use your engine and your computer. You would need to re-flash the PCM to work with the manual.

    to lift or not?

Yes you can tow with a lift and bigger tires. Folks do it all the time. Is it ideal? Absolutely not. Generally a lower rig with smaller tires tows better and gets better fuel mpg. Yes, you can get nicer rims and tires that match the OEM equipment. Make sure the new tires have the proper load...

    New project

That's how I feel about it as well. I've had mine for sixteen and half years now. Plus it was my first vehicle. Then just find a new body or a new engine and keep it going.
