    Sounds good — As long as you are not making big curb idle adjustments with the throttle stop screw, all is well. Hopefully you get a handle on the trans soon.

    The vacuum seems a little low. Running about 12-13deg initial advance? May need to plug all ports at carb to confirm no vac leaks. Can’t comment on the trans trouble shooting. Run all manual and reverse pattern here.

    You’ve confirmed the engine harness is ok. Good. Used OE UVCHs? How did the buzz test turn out? Does it still show no power to those injs? Has he run the motor w the VC off and jiggled the wires? 50 cent mod?

    I’m not real familiar with the 4160 carb, but yes, confirm no vac leaks. (Plug hvac port) Have you checked vacuum with a gauge yet? Set curb idle mixture for highest vacuum insure the blades are closed. If blades open, it will draw thru power circuit. Power valve should be good with the 6.5...

    Roll away from a stop and snap the throttle. The tach will jump to the flash speed before you really begin to move.

    We had snappy part throttle shifts as well. Usually a 1-2 chirp. Where does the converter flash? Not foot brake rpm, but flash speed. If yours flashes to 2000-2200, then you should have the same cruise rpm you had before. I’d check trans temps also to be sure there’s nothing else going...

    The shifts will stay that way.. the c4 in the mustang barked both shifts at wot with the street converter. Went away with the 8”.

    Aside from being a little confused on the starter issue, the FASS units are not designed for a 7.3..? They are a low pressure lift for CR hpfp. They deliver fuel @ 15-16 psi? :shrug:

    It’s about the geometry of the arm to the valve stem head so the rocker isn’t ‘reaching’ too far at open or close. The shims are for tolerance stack and lifter preload. If you get an old flat tappet solid lifter and adjustable rod, you can accurately get your correct rod length.

    Did you check pushrod length? Remember the lifter collapses also so keep jiggling it while to find zero lash.

    Fug, sorry man.. I’ve never used gt40s but a buddy said he was using them. He probably had e7s. I read the stock explorer plug is good. Start at 035 gap.
