    SXE education request

Put a temp gun on the rear diff after pulling hard. There's a few components that don't like sustained 350-400.

    Resurgence of a F100

Yep, it's an unsavory truth that happens.. out of round seats, sticking guides, surfaces not flat etc. With a cam at 500 and a 1.6 ex valve, you'll be close to being out of clearance at overlap on a stock flattop piston also. The used stock iron heads aren't worth more than 5-600 and I'd...

    Resurgence of a F100

The new complete production alum heads often need to be massaged to get right. Valve seats, spring rate and guide clearance should on the list to be double checked. It's easy to spend money twice on these things-- I'd keep looking for the 351..

Higher stall drives fine, but you need good trans cooling. They build more heat if you're under the stall speed a lot (you would be w 3.07s). Make sure you understand the flash speed at your power level not the rpm you can hold against the brakes. Over camming is a slippery slope because they...

95 F350 very hard to stop

It's possible the piston seal is failing, or could have air in the master. After pumping, does the pedal stay up or does it fall away?

    Resurgence of a F100

Beyond a simple gasket match, I wouldn't put effort/money into any port work on the stock heads. Keep your eyes open for some decent used alum heads, give them a valve job and you'll be way ahead to an easy, honest 50-60hp. Don't get crazy with the cam and it will be a torquey jose. Btw, I've...

    Resurgence of a F100

351w most definitely.. You'll have a little exhaust work (for the taller deck) as part of the swap, but a nicely built 351 will be bueno for the heavy truck. Depending on the shape of the donor will determine how much extra you could justify. Some nice 2.02/1.6 heads, roller valvetrain (flat...

hydra tuning -modified valve body vs non

If you even remotely think the VB or trans is modded (has line risers, etc.. ) automatically select no trans tuning for your engine tuning package. To me, risers in the tunes are just another way to kill a perfectly good stock trans.

OBS 7.3 runs rough at idle

^^^ yes, as said- blow by, schmo by! They all have it. Clear the codes and see what comes back. These engines are designed to be in service a long time. If the compression test across the holes is with 5-10% hi/lo and is above ~330, ford says send it. It may be a tad tougher to start but they...

Just another 7.3 under the knife.

^^^ok, now I understand your reasoning, haha. It doesn't owe you anything and I like going to school on these old trucks too.. Keep up the thread, they're fun.

Just another 7.3 under the knife.

To Cobra's point and his experience, it's a lot of work to fluff/buff it. 350# even across all cyls is fine for an intermittent trailer puller. What did it leak down? For me, do a full machine rebuild or nothing. You have some maintenance stuff that needs attention. Sealing the high pressure...

Yeah, that sounds pretty unusual.. I'm sure he's interested in getting it back.

Oil in cylinder while waiting on new injectors

^^ this.. be sure to put a couple of bolts into the valve cover as the fluid will blow them off if not held down.

    01 7.3 No Boost

Nice-- It's pretty easy to make a 4" pressure tester for the intake out of abs pipe and cap, with an air chuck fitting. Regulate about 25 psi of air and check all connections with window cleaner. Some valves will be open (causing pressure loss) but the plumbing leakers will be obvious.

    275/65/20 tire recommendation

Look for some transforce ATs takeoffs from a late dodge-- they're everywhere. 285/60-20s. I found an almost new set for 300 and really like them for what I use my rig for. I'd expect them to struggle in muddy grass lol, but for running down the road quietly they are fine. No more MTs for me...

95 F350 very hard to stop

Just thoughts... Does it always, or randomly, stop poorly? Can you get better stops by pumping the pedal? Did you replace the rear axle jumper line also? Did you look for kinks in the tubing? Have you put a pressure gauge in the system (to determine if it's a hydraulic or a mechanical issue)?

    No power

Check /replace the fuse links also. (I accidentally put a charger on backwards recently and it acted exactly the same way and I removed the cable immediately. ) Start chasing the primary power supply wiring. If you're lucky the surge didn't get to the pcm.

    No HPOP pressure

This is what I'm thinking.. even a very tired pump will supply a little volume. Hope I'm wrong thinking that something in the gear cover broke.
