Crank but no start. Please help!

The instructions that came with the chip said to disconnect them. I'm not getting a wait to start light and the check engine light is on.

I know I didn't have the keys in the ignition. But I did have a battery connected. I've heard that will fry it

I pulled the ECM out of the truck to clean the terminals and when I put it back in the truck, it wouldn't start

I know I didn't have the keys in the ignition. But everywhere else I've looked says the batteries need to be disconnected or else the ECM can get fried. I tried it with the chip out and still nothing.

That's what I was afraid of... Is the ECM the same thing? I've heard it could be the ECM, are those used interchangeably?

I have a 97 power stroke. When I was putting a ts 6 position chip in, I told a buddy to disconnect the batteries before i put the chip in. He said he did but he didn't know it had 2 batteries and I didn't think about the second one under the air intake. We plugged the chip in, truck fired but...
