My brother wanted me to change the number 4 injector in his o1 7.3 wrecker. I have changed injectors multiple times in the past. But that was a couple years ago. i already got the old injector out and got a suction gun to try to get most the oil out. Got the glow plug out also. The only question i have is. Which number fuse do i pull so when i crank it over with the g/p out it dont try to start. I can never remember which number fuse it is, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching with no luck. I found one for a 95 or 96 but really doubt the fuse numbers are the same.

Or just jump the starter solenoid on the passenger fender well... Some people make things hard...

The two times I've done injectors I had the plug over the drivers valve cover undone so no need to pull fuse. Easier and no way of getting the wrong one.

it won't start right away anyway since hpo went into the cylinder. it will take some cranking to get it to prime

Normally I 100% agree with you. In this situation though, he only pulled one injector. The other head still might fire. You need to either just jump the starter or disable the PCM.

Its a automatic. But i thought sure there was a fuse under the dash you could pull also. I would think that would be alot easier than unhooking the valve cover gaskets. Which i will probably do if i cant figure out which one it is.

It takes about 5 seconds to unhook the UVCH.
If you are dead-set on pulling the fuse, #27 is for the IDM, #30 is for the PCM. Either one should suffice.

I just left the entire engine harness unplugged where it plugs in at the driver's side valve cover.

Simple, easy, done......

Make sure you throw a loose valve cover over the side with oil in it. That stuff really shoots out of there!

got it back together runs great. I just unhooked the valve cover gasket. But thanks backwoodsboy, thats what i was looking for. Ill remember that for next time. In my opinion its easier to pull that fuse then gettin taking a chance of oil gunk/grime in one of the plugs and have to clean it out. or clean it before up before you even start.

Don't unhook anything, don't pull anything...

For christ sake, how fricking hard is it to reach over with a damn screw driver and jump the starter solenoid... Its right fricking there...

My god you guys make things hard sometimes.
