Yeah it is. Turns so much better and rides better, not to mention bigger brakes. Did the swap on my 04 excursion and bought another axle to do my 01 excursion.

They're different widths than the 99-04 correct?

2005 and newer Super Duties received new axle assemblies that were wider and had larger brakes in front as well as moving to the coilspring front suspension. 2005 Excursions retained the earlier narrower axles and leafspring front suspension.

I've done it, well worth it....

Everything is bolt on. For the bolts use only grade 8 and ONLY stover nuts. They'll never come loose. I used Tractor supply for all my nuts and bolts.

Front end

When putting the coil buckets to the frame, there are a couple holes already there, they will have to be enlarged a bit. Bolt the bucket with those holes, and you have the holes on the bucket to know exactly where to drill the other holes.

Radius arm frame bracket

There are holes on the frame as well for the radius arm brackets, you bolt it on with those holes, then drill the rest.

Front brake lines

For the 2005+ the brake line are in front of the coil bucket. 99-2004 have the brake line in the rear. I used a t fitting and a new brake line to move my brake line forward, so I could use 2005+ brake lines.

Pitman Arm

I upgraded to a 2005+ steering box. Everything inside is beefier.

Sway bar

The mounting points are there on your truck, 100% bolt on, no drilling holes.

Rear axle

This is pretty self explanatory, if you choose to upgrade to 2008+ rear springs CARLI has a nice write up

If you are going to be doing this swap at home. I HIGHLY recommend these, they're the best price I found and you don't pay shipping.

Where did you get the link arms the truck is currently lifted around 5.5 inches and I want to keep it that way, trying to figure out if i should just get all stock then lift it or just try and save money by buying a lift used and not mess with the stock stuff

My link arms are PMF 3 link. Lift it while you are in there, sucks to do it twice

Even with a 3 link, I believe you should still get a radius arm drop at 5.5in of lift
