08-10 Mirror cap removal

I am about to paint the mirror caps on truck and was just wondering how to take the caps off without breaking the glass itself. I know there are some sort of clips behind the glass but not positive where or how to get to them. Thanks.

power the mirror to face all the way down and youll see two tabs behind it that you have to push on to pop the mirror cap off. I used a couple thin flat heads and pushed on both of them at the same time to get them undone then used a small pick to pop the cap off from the top of the mirror.

In your avatar it looks like your mirror caps are chrome, are those the ones your painting? If so, let me know how it works out.

I did them last night. I only had some gloss black engine enamel from duplicolor that I used to paint them and they came out pretty well. Unfortunately I won't have any pics til this weekend.
