08+ Tailgates step vs no step internals

Does anyone by chance know if the internals will swap from a tailgate with step to one without the step?

gonna be picking up a gate with step and camera but my current 08+ gate without step is my color. if i could swap the internals and save paint id like to.

no you cannot. the tailgates are designed completely different. its unfortunate tho. i really want the step and they dont come around often. there WAS a guy on craigslist near me that was wanting to trade for one without a step but someone beat me to it.

The 08 gate from ford w/ step/sensros is about $2K. They make you buy the shell, then the step and sensors seperate. Yes it is 2 different gates.

yea ive made to many other purchases recently really justify throwing more cash into parts yet until after i move some more.

you can have the step and remove the stupid assist handle so you get your tailgate as a work surface back however

Thats exactly what I am planning on doing. That way you can also put the metal cover on it. Love the step, hate the handle.
