18" or 20" wheel on 99-04

Thinking about changing up the look on my 01 250. Looked through the wheel/tire tech thread, but couldn't find exactly what I want. A lot of the trucks in there are 05 and up.

My dilemma is, should I go with 18" or 20" wheels? I currently have 16x10 wheels with a -24 offset and 305/70 tires. It sticks out just far enough for me, but I would like a bigger wheel and a 35" tire. I would like to stick with a 10" wide wheel. I think 12" would rub too much on the 99-04 suspension. I do have x codes springs, so it is a couple inches higher than stock.

Also, whatever wheel I get I would like it to be polished. Just think it looks good with a black truck.

Any opinions/suggestions on wheel size or make? Pics always help.

Here's a couple of how my truck sits now.

I've got 18s on my 04, I like them but wish I would i have gone with 20+ Id love 22s but 20s would be nice...I think 18s are nice and same some one when buying tires, but I think a big truck needs big rims.....

Do a 20x10...throw some 35s on..I am running 20x12s and 35s. They barely stick out. I dont think id run narrower than a.12 wide on a 99-04 setup. The axles are narrow.anyway.

I'm running x-code springs up front and 350 blocks in the rear. There is a slight rake towards the front.

Josh, sent you a pm.

Thought about running the 08-10 20" wheels with spacers. Not sure how that would look though. Anybody know what the width of those wheels are?

Yeah I seen that evidently I'm a selective reader. Thanks been looking over wheels and thinking about sticking with 16s. Like the way yours looks.

They are 20x8-- they have approx. 1.6" more neg offset than the early wheel due to the late model axles being wider. Ive had this set (got for $300 from a neighbor) for a year or so now and just need to get the spacers. $450 for a set of spacers has taken awhile to pull the trigger...

The picture below shows an approximate look with a mild flare and still sitting in about 5/8" more than it would mounted with a spacer. It will be to the edge of the flare when mounted . The tire is a stock 275. I will likely go with a 305/55 but IMO the 35s look real good on the wheel (I dont want the diameter).

What part of PA are you from? You can put my stock 20's on your truck to see if you like how it looks if you are near me.

Exactly. A 12 wide on a leaf spring truck sticks out like a 10 wide on a coil truck.

What's your offset?

-44...typically the only offset available on a 12 wide. Although some of those rockstars have goofy offsets but im not sure about other xd's.

For what you are doing have you thought about some of the xd wheels in 9wide? They stick out but dont have tons of width. Powerstroke Junkie had 20x9 xd spy on his 02 and it looked great!
