Here we go, I've been drag racing my CCLB for quite some time now (big red).... I just picked up a 91 F350 roller for 1,300... I have completely stripped everything and am bout to weld in my roll cage 10 point this weekend...

Few questions, this will be a race truck only... For the bed, I am thinking of cutting the middle out of it and just putting the sides on via 1" 3/4 tubing for appearance... My goal is to be under 5,000 lbs.... I'm going to put my 7.3L in it that makes 510 hp currently, but I will put twins on it and bigger sticks to make over 700...

This is a quick overview, I will post pictures the build and more in depth info tomorrow

Just curious on input and suggestions. Thank you

Sounds cool! I seen the pic of the stripped truck on FB. Although you should be over 510hp with those 300/200s with more air, and new tunes. Theres several guys out there closer to 700 with those injectors. But as far as the motor goes, much past what you have now and your going to need a built bottom end. I dont know what your goal is drag racing wise, but maybe a bigger, apropriately sized single (S4 based) charger would work well. I think it could easily be in the 11's. 4wd slicks, cage, and if you want to be skinny....fiberglass.

One thing i've often wondered, does cutting the bed floor out and then having to add a frame for the bed-sides really get rid of any noticeable weight?

Your going to have to drop ALOT of wieght and build one HELL of a motor WITH spray to get into the 9's. The WOP OBS reg cab went a best of I think 10.83 at 6450 pounds. 4x4 with nitrious. And we all know what WOP and Zane was capable of, motor wise, and in building a drag truck.

The OBS Lightning wieghts 4500 pounds, is 2wd, and with nitrious has ran a best of 9.91 I think.

Now as much as I love to see builds like this and would love to see you hit 9's, I think you should set your goal to at least 10's or 11's. Thats still very impressive with a 7.3 and a 20 year old truck. Its also alot more doable, so you dont go to the track expecting to run a 9.90 and walk out with a timeslip reading 11.5, disapointed.

Pretty sure wop went deep into the 10's on b-codes, a gated h2e an spray. If the op can get the weight down it's a lot easier to go fast

9.91, but chassis setup is key. Gotta get it to hook.

I didn't realize the 9.91 pass was with the h2e as well, that's badass. I agree chassis set-up is a huge part of it at those speeds, but having 4wd should help a little

I am in for the bed build. I am interested in how the bars are set up. A wise man once told me to pull weight from the front to the back to hit the desired weight, but that was building 2wd's. Good luck with the build. Feel free to start this bed project first. Lol

When I post pictures you will see the weight I have cut, it is substantial.... I will be running 4wd and am just hoping for mid 10's.... Weight is key... And I will always run fuel only, not a fan of drugs.... Goal is to have one of the cleanest and quickest OBS's out there, build should take a year or two to finish how I want it

...and that 9.91 is the 2wd 4500 pound lightning. Not the 6500 pound 4x4 RC f350. I think 10's on fuel with a 7.3 are very doable with alot of work and attention to the chassis and wieght reduction/placement.

This post you made was the reason I originally replied to you. Yes both of wop's trucks were light, but as far as needing all that other stuff you mentioned, your wrong. Wop went 9.91 on an h2e with spray, I guess according to you though they must've sprinkled the whole damn truck in pixie dust to get there
