Hey fellas,

Tow truck yard jsust got a 1996 e350 van in w/ a powerstroke in it. Dont know the miles yet but the guy asked if there was anything on/in the engine i wanted. he wants to part it out, then junk it. I have a 1996 f250 also. Is there anything worth swiping either for cores or hard parts that go out? e40d tranny also.

Van engine harness may be different so save the entire thing down to the transmission harnesses. I know the 97 vans are different from the trucks so the 96 van may be the same way. Same with the PCM. IDM should be the same as any PSD. May want to save the instrument panel and interior wiring harnesses. The instrument panel should also have the PSOM thats no longer dealer serviced.

Posting in the van section may get you a better answer.

Dang! I hope so... I did some research and tried to tell if I had PMR's or forged rods in my truck from the factory. From the # on the vlv cover I don't believe I do. Gosh, that would be nice instead of paying 2800 bucks for a hypermax set of rods!

Forged are 1994.5-2000

PMR are 2001-2003

Some 2001's have a slight chance of having forged.

Just wondering... so the 94.5-2000 don't have to worry about breaking con rods at the 450 mark? Some people I have been talking to are severely mistaken if this is true. The most I'll problem ever see if 500 whp.

I had close to 450 HP on my late 99 completely stock motor other than the 160/100's injectors and T500 hpop and other mods to get it to 450 HP and it had 390K miles. The engine never ever had a rebuild. The truck also never had any blow by even with all things that truck went though LOL.
