Looking at a 1996 F250 ext cab 4X4 with an auto that I might be able to get for cheap because it doesn't run.

So here's what the ad says:

"it currently is not running. It will cranks and we have got it to fire up with ether and ran through the whole truck and checked all possible issues and cannot figure it out. Has a brand new fuel pump with receipt, and it is getting fuel, has great oil pressure"

What do you think it could be?

CPS?

No way at all to know. Could be easy like that or a bad IPR or could be a lot more like a cam gear that has worked its way off or way low compression.

Called the guy and asked for pictures.

Will wait and see if it's even worth the risk.

I'd be pissed if I got it running just to find out the auto is sh*t.

If it will start and run on ether I would not think it would be anything real serious internally. I would look to make sure there are no blown fuses in the box under the hood. I would also check to make sure the little sheet metal nut on the ipr has not fallen off. Could be one of a number of things but again it it will run off ether i would not be scared.

I called the guy, and when I called he was vary short, like I was taking time out of his day for nothing, so after I told him 5 times I wanted him to email me pictures he said ok and hung up the phone.

And I have yet to see any pictures of the truck, and I'm not going to make an hour and a half drive just to see it.

So it's all yours mjonesjr.

BTW mjonesjr, if you do buy it and get it running, let me know if you plan on selling it.

could be a shorted out fuel heater. caused the fuse to burn for the injector control module. I think it's fuse no.21 under the hood but don't quote me on that number. It will just crank forever because the injectors aren't firing. You'd still get it stumbling on ether but no start. Easy way to check it out other than finding the fuse is if a code reader doesn't work. No communication.

I think I'll pass as well if the guy is that big of a prick. I would want pictures before I drove to look at it.
