Been looking to see if my symptems are like anyone elses but found none but 1 was similar. Not that I want smoke but it doesnt even haze when bogged, and free revving it puffs a lil white smoke then nothing. Runs fine and isn't showing any codes. Does seem low on power but that's compared to another 7.3 with a chip and idm mod that weighs 2000# less. It's not a dog I just thought an SD should run better. The seller said that right b4 I bought it, it stumbled one day and ran like @ss for a bit. He shut it down and it went back to normal. No code or cel. I'm going out to check FF now to see if theres any oil in it or Fully plugged.

Without a device to add more fuel a stock one normally will not smoke. I would do all fluids and filters just for piece of mind. The white for a second sounds normal.

Thanks, that's reassuring. The FF check out good and I'm not seeing anything wierd so I'll just wait on my tunes. Thanks again!

Yeah my 2000 would never blow any smoke until it was chipped. My 03 does without the chip in it, but I think it may have a programmer or something on it.

While I'm thinking of it I can't get over 600* egt, that's at the DP so add 200-300. Figure 900*. And can't get better than 15psi boost. Are those #'s in-line with stock SD's?

Id say so... But I never had gauges when my truck was stock...

Perfectly normal Joe. When mine was stock, the only time I ever saw black smoke was when I hooked it to a 16X80 single wide that got stuck in my sisters driveway. One axle was stuck in the mud. I moved it, but she let me know it was a workout.

10-4 thanks Andy. Soon as T gets back I'll get some tunes and see how this thing hauls. Right now you can't even hear the turbo LOL

miles on engine?
miles on injectors? (if new/rebuilt injs..quality rebuilds?)

I have never seen a (bad) o-ring cause a smoke issue...

IF IF IF...you get under the valve covers...for any reason...I would HIGHLY recommend running a compression test.

these (any diesel) are compression ignition engines...and once the compression drops (below @ 370psi+/-)...then the fuel that is being injected can't be completely burned (esp on cold cylinders...or low boost conditions)...

if the injs have >180-200k miles...then it's likely a mechanical issue with the injs...aside from a/an o-ring problem..

If If If ????? Haha, thanks Dave. 165k don't know about inj history. Very little blowbye. I was basing the O-ring thing on doing searches and the answered provided. Next time I'll just ask like ever other DA. :D

I know, I know... I'm sure the o-ring mfgs love all the solutions that guys like to post up on the interweb

...I can only reply to soooo many "o-ring problem" threads...and refuse to argue with most... :D
