Took in my 08 f350 to the dealer for what I thought was just a busted crossover EGR feeder pipe turned out to be both up pipes and the EGR feeder.

They told me all the bolts and clamps were 1 time use.
the cab lift labor was 12 hours
1k in parts
Plus I'm assuming labor for the parts

Does thus sound right for the bolts and what not? I'm pretty content with some MBRP up pipes or a little extra for some heftier pipes EGR is staying on so that's gonna be a stock new piece I just want was blown away by the 1 time use bolts.

Also anyone know of any powerstroke diesel shops in the destin/fort Walton Beach FL area?

12 hours to lift a cab? Yeah right, more like 2. Seems spendy to me. Way spendy. Do em yourself!

1k in parts also seems high. I think you can get bd manifolds and up pipes for under 1k

Under 1k for parts. They are ripping you off.

get a set of BD manifolds and up pipes, a new EBP Tube & sensor assembly, and the adaptor for the tube.

Egr system is staying intact

That price is outrageous though for doing up pipes. Find another shop.

Book time is about 7-10 hrs to do the job. Maybe service writer shot it a lil high. But all in all we also replace ll hardware on our builds as well .

That egr pipe if i remember correctly is pretty pricey since it has a catalyst in it. But 12 hours is high as was stated previously, parts could be pretty close when you add in all the fluids and whatnot...

Yea the EGR crossover pipe is right under 500 bucks. I know Rudy has some pipes for right under 400 bucks and I have a pretty good pipe from webb06 that's going to be welded up by a really good local welder.

I would love to tackle the job myself and since I do have other vehicles were truck is the only thing I have to pull my boat and I'm still sneaking in days despite the weather. New gaskets are a given but I'm not messing with the bolts. There is a local shop that will do the job for 700 labor vs the 1320 dollar dealer rate just for the cab. I only took it to ford because they said it was about 700 in labor for the lift job and I get there and flipped the script.

Oh well, I'm out a 230 dollar damn diagnostic fee as well. I did bitch them out as I was told it was a 150 dollar flat fee for diesels. Not happy but she is still moving just fine.

I have a hard time believing that all 3 of those pipes are leaking or blown. I bet everything back there is covered in soot and they're just saying every pipe needs replaced, which they may if they are truly blown. But I'd bet highly unlikely. Gaskets are one time use, I'd reuse the nuts and probably replace the bolts.

I'm no pro or master tech but as a diesel tech for the army and a track soldier for a while, no matter what truck it was small or large, huge trailers, hell even toying around on my father-n-laws dump truck no bolt or nut was to be of one time use. I've heard of the cab bolts being replaced if they are all jacked up but the list doesn't mention any of those.

Rebuilt EGR-crossover pipe
Rudy's up pipes
New gaskets with the pipes from Rudys

And I'm gonna call it. Day, maybe if I when the lotto tonight I'll do a full build but I ain't winning no competitions in my truck and I like fishing better. We'll see how it goes.

In ford service manuals, lots of bolts are TTY and one time use. Especially those that seal gaskets. Can you use them again, sure. But if a shop re-uses it, they are now liable if it fails. Easier to just replace it.
