So I'm not sure if this is just because I am coming from a 06 150 or what, but I feel like I have a little extra hop from road bumps than I should, even w/ this being a 1T LB. My first thought is I need new shocks w/ 82k on the truck, but wanted to see if you guys have similar ride. I'm ridin empty bed currently if that matters.

Any recommendations for new shocks? I was contemplating something w/ a reservoir. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Most likely it's the shocks they either are wore out or they are too stiff. Stock non fx4 shocks work pretty well actually from what I've found

Yea i'm pretty sure it needed shocks all the way around. i replaced the rears first cuz they are easy as cake and the bed only bounces now when it is trying to stop the front from bobbing all over the place. Bilstein 5100's w/ 2" lift!

Does anyone have any good tips on replacing the front ones? do you guys remove the liner to get better access to the top nut? thanks!

I didn't remove liner but the top nut was so difficult to get off ended up just cutting the stud! Made it quick, good luck, looks good

I got a set of max access craftsman to not remove the inner liner. Worked great.

My front ones were shot. No recoil after I compressed them.

These 5100's for the front SD don't have a locknut on the bottom so what you have to do is pull the boot back, put some alligator wrench on over a rag, and ya done.

How's the ride with those 5100's?

now that i have put about 100 miles on all 4, the ride is impecable. granted i did just remove 2 blown shocks in the front, i'm loving the valving on these compared to the rancho 9100 i have owned before (not on this truck though). think i'm a bilstein guy now...
