There is no performance gain from a 5" over a 4" at the HP levels most people are at. A 5" downpipe will NOT fit unless you bash the hell out of everything, including the downpipe. 4" is what I would suggest you go with, unless you're running close to 4 digit rwhp. The saved money can be put towards a set of headers. They sound badass.

I had 4" with a long 6" tip on one of my 97's, it would get this loud sweet spot crackle at like 2500rpm (3:55 gears) and just all around sounded good. I have a friend with 5" on his 02 and it sounds good at lower rpm but at wot it doesn't sound much like anything, just noise

I have a MBRP 4 inch turbo back on my 6.0 and my 7.3 I started out without the muffler pulling my horse trailer and they were ready to kill me. It didn't take long to put the MBRP mufflers on both trucks. I was not going to listen to that much drone for 850 miles at a time when we go on our horse vacations.

I've had both on a 7.3. Mufflers and straight pipe on both. As I've gotten older, there's no question the mufflered 4" is the way to go on a 7.3. The 5" straight was awesome, loud and deep, but the constant rumble and drone got to me. After years with that setup, I'm now currently putting a 4" with muffler back on it.

No power gains, just sound.

So, how hard and what price would it be to add a muffler to a 4" turbo back MBRP? I only ask as I am trying to find an inspection staition that will pass without a muffler and get the troopers off my ass.

The cost of a muffler clamps and whatever saw or cutting wheel you use to place it.

Really with the open straight thru design of the mufflers you can get there's no reason not to run one to keep it legal.

4 inch down pipe into a 5 inch all the way to the back and love it.
Did you buy the downpipe and exhaust separately or did it come complete
