Only a couple people doing it right now. Mostly for improved track times and longevity at the 10sec level. Kind of a hot topic right now

The fact its holding well in Craig's truck, as well as the awesome warranty from bts sold me. I would like to see the 5r succeed just as much as anyone, and I think Elite is working on a lot of good things for it.

Good idea on bringing it back.

How does a BTS 4R100 do in a 6.4 daily driver? Not really into the track as much.

as of now, i believe the shifter light doesnt work, and it throws a CEL. but i think it drives just fine. it has to have a standalone TCM. unless youre going for huge power i think just a really well built 5R should be sufficient.

I wouldn't look at a 4R swap as a cheaper alternative. The 4R swap was designed with all out drag racing in mind. You have no PRNDL stuff, and it throws codes. I know there is supposed to be a box in the works for it, but it isn't finished yet. The biggest pro to the 4R is the way it shifts, there is less physical limitation with the quickness of the shift.

I'm not sold on the 4R being any more reliable than the 5R at this point. The 4R's have had issues, same as the 5R's.

And to the OP the 4r has to be from a v10 to fit and you need to swap the transfer case input shaft for now(bts has a shaft in the works that will be a direct fit)

:whs: I gave up on making a box that will retain factory equipment. Just isn't worth the investment on a very minuscule market. Honestly a well built and tuned 5r is your best bet for a daily driver. I never intended for the 4r swap to be done purely for daily driving improvements. What do I know though lol
