I'm wondering if someone can help me out with a few questions I have about my new powerstroke I'm putting in a new factory ford transmission and tourque converter and the previous owner bypassed the factory coolers and ruined the threads on the radiator cooler so what size cooler should I buy also should I get one with a fan I tow between 10000 13000 pounds of hay regularly also anybody ever use the banks trans commander is it worth the money thanks in advance also any tips on install are appreciated

Banks TransCommand - No. An upgraded valve body and/or custom tunes will do everything a TransCommand can, only better.
Cooler - 6.0 cooler > v-10 cooler > Tru-Cool 4739. Don't bother with a fan. The cfm a small electric fan pulls is nothing compared to engine cooling fan.
How exactly did the p.o. destroy the threads on the factory cooler? Any chance of chasing them with a tap and salvaging them? You aren't going to beat the efficiency of a fluid to fluid cooler.

It looks like he just pulled the threads out of it I don't think there's any salvaging it so I don't wanna sound dumb but I don't really want any power adders on my like a chip any way I can get one that's just for the tranny?

Get in touch with Justin Struckman (Powerstruck on here) and tell him what you want. You're a perfect candidate for one of his "penny pincher" single position chips.

I understand where you are coming from on not wanting any power adders, but I would strongly advise getting his 50hp 'tow' tune burned to the chip.
I'm sure he can give you transmission tuning with stock power, but a 50hp tow tune will net you better mileage than the factory calibration, along with a little extra grunt down low.

The 6.0 cooler will be plenty. I have an early 99, no radiator cooler at all. I put in a tru cool. Does awesome by itself. A 6.0 cooler will do even better. The only time you will even notice no radiator cooler is when you are stop in go traffic for a couple hours in the summertime. Your trans temp will crawl up to 175º or so.

I just rebuilt my 4R100 this past winter. I threw a 6.0 cooler in front and, to date, I haven't broken 140 degrees. I used the trans-go tugger HD2 kit on the front pump and valve body. Serious holding power now and the shifts off the line are awesome, but the best thing about that kit is that towing up/down hills, the kit doesn't allow the trans to try and slip into a higher/lower gear when you don't want it to...

I will most likely be getting a DP-Tuner chip as I have one for our schools Race-bus and I was extremely impressed with it...
