Thinking about doing this. Have axles already and access to motor and trans. What's everyone's thoughts on how hard this would be to do right

I think that the easiest way would be to completely swap all the electronics over. That would make sure everything worked right for the motor and would also get rid of the electrical problems you say you are having with it now.

I think it would be a cool project. I say do it!!!

Correct me if I am wrong but that looks like they set the 80-86 body on a SD frame. The front end of the frame does not look like the 80-86 to me.

That would be SWEET!... people have done a 6.0 in an 80s f250, same truck space and build wise as your 97, just with more electronics. Like said earlier, swap everything over and it will be fine, gauges, computer, wiring harness, ect....

There was a guy in Diesel Power that had 2 bronco's, 1 with a 7.3 an the other with a 6.0. I say go for it, I'm not an SUV fan, but I remember hearing Lott talk about his 7.3 bronco with 05+ suspension, even with a close to stock 7.3 it was pretty quick an got good mpg cuz it's a lot lighter than a super duty.
