Cab stayed on

Well I recently bought a 2003 f350 and I've been pretty busy with work, it ended up blowing a head gasket last week and I figured while I'm doing that I might as well do it all.
I have an idea on where to start but I'm looking for all out the best of the best. I want this truck to be a sled pulling monster but still have my drive ability and still be able to tow if need be. I wanna stay in the 2.5 class seeing as there is slim chance i can get a big enough charger to actually stand a chance with 2.6 trucks and be able to tow.
Basically I want a truck that I can drive to the track go out take a first place ribbon then get back in my truck and drive it home.
So what I need help is what set up is going to be the all around best? I've been reading about a non vgt turbo, I'm interested in learning more about that.
