I don't believe I have seen it anywhere but is it possible to do 6.0 manifolds with the cab on? I know the up pipes will require to trans to be out but besides that is it a cab on job?

uppipes dont requre the trans to be out, manifolds can be done but it sucks, pass side is the hardest to do a/c components in the way.

I always heard that the trans has to be out to do them. That's news to me.

If I did do this I probably take the ac pump off.

It's all done thru the fender wells correct?

yeah a/c compressor comes off pretty easy like shane said, inner fender out, probably on both sides to aid removal.

Do you have the egr pipe in still?

I have the egr pipe down to where it connected to the coolers by the heads, that was becuase I plan on getting a WG that dumped to the atmosphere, figure it be easier to do it that way intend of taking the cab off to pump one after the turbos and what not

Would keeping that provision pipe there make it more difficult? And another reason I kept it there was to keep the ebp sensor in the stock location, at the time I didn't know what adverse effects it would have, if any.

its just more cluttered piping wise, and there is one more bellow that has potential to blow out, but really no there is nothing wrong with it, the bellow doesnt get the heat that the uppipes do. There are advantages either way, im kinda for keeping the stock location anymore but thats me

Figure I keep everything in the stock locations justin case my sh*t hole state ever did crack down on emissions, just bolt the coolers back up and sell it if it ever came to that

It helps a lot to remove the axle stabilizer and get the down pipe out of your way. just make sure you chalk tires so the truck does not move cause an inch equals a mile when putting the axle stabilizer back in.

Also try and use a "new" 10mm socket on the manifold bolts rounding one off in cab can make for a long day.

I hope it wouldn't be hard to remove the bots and stuff, everything was apart 25k miles ago when the studs and cam was done, and I remember using a good amount of anti seize

I did 6.0 manifolds and up pipes cab on. Pull manifolds first then up pipes come right out. Up pipes in first then 6.0 manifolds. They are a huge pain but def doable. Just a science getting the right socket extension combo.

I have also done these cab on as well twice. Once to swap to steed speed manifolds, and once to switch to the 6.0L manifolds. Its very time consuming, but doable no doubt. I would plan on a good part of a day to do this forsure. Good luck.

Not to derail but is the 6.0 manifold upgrade really worth it? Are they still a weakpoint with a quality custom up-pipe with heavy duty bellows?

the manifold is not the weak point.

the up pipe is. mainly, where it exits the manifold and enters the up pipe. that bend blows out on higher hp trucks. or hotter running trucks.

with the elbow cast into the manifold, its cast iron, instead of steel or stainless.

after market 6.0 manifolds accomodate for this as well, by being thicker material, if there not cast iron.
