I have a chance to buy an 08 CCSB with 130,000km on it. Body is decent, interior is good condition black leather. A few months ago ford installed a new shortblock under warranty. First time out with a trailer behind it coolant puked out the overflow. It is now back at the dealer only 4,000km after shortblock and they have ruled out emmisions equipment and are going to be taking the heads off tomorrow. Warranty is up at the end of October so couldn't have really happened at a better time. I was talking to the service manager and he said he would install studs and egr deletes if I supplied the parts. Is this truck a good buy or should I stay away? In January radiator and all hoses and overflow all replaced with front cover as well. I had a mechanical inspection and everything checked out within reason for it age. Passenger battery low, rear shocks worn, brakes low all round. All steering and suspension checked out. What would be a fair price to pick this up for?

That's. it bad at all. Studs are 550 and the delete is around 200-300 depending who's it's from. I say go for it for the peace of mind

Looks like this is the route I am going. They are installing studs, egr, and dpf deletes. The block had a crack in the #5 cylinder into the water jacket. Appears to have just been a poor casting. They are putting another new short block in.

So what's the price of the truck after they're doing all this?

I am buying the truck for 16k. I purchased the studs, h&s unlocked street tuner, egr delete, for 2,300 taxes in.

They found the crack after they pulled the heads off. It was on cylinder #5 you can see a hairline crack, when you tap around the bore with a wrench you can hear it significantly thinner in this area, possibly a defective casting?

I hope everything works out. Dealer said no head gasket warranty after stud install but I'm not too concerned. They did many 6.0's for friends back when they were in warranty and I don't know of a single problem after they were installed.

While it is a part have them send heads out 6.4 is very hard on guides If it were mine I would pay extra for lifters and rockers while it is apart.

Truck is pretty much together already. I am supposed to be picking it up tomorrow. Hopefully valvetrain hold together for a while longer, it is still fairly low milage with under 80,000mi isn't it?

Dealer ended up replacing remainder of pushrods and rockers. Picked it up yesterday and everything seems good so far. They didn't get time to flash the tune from the minimax so drove home with the Cel on wouldn't rev past 2200. Once home flashed tune and all is well now.
