Hi guys, heres my scenario ive had in this last month. I have an 08, im not sure of the job # but im pretty sure its an early 08 looking at components production dates. I had head gaskets let go about 3 weeks ago. Got the truck tore down and fixed. Took it out on a few small test drives and checked for leaks, everything looked good. Then i decided to take it on a 20 or so mile round loop and come back. In the middle of the test drive rail pressure started dropping, and a solid cloud of raw fuel was pouring out of the tail pipe. I kicked it in neutral and started to drift off the side of the road, while it was coasting it loaded up a cylinder and THUD. I got the truck back to the house via flat bed (that broke down as well, haha) and began tearing into it again. Took the injectors and glow plugs out and rolled the engine as far as i could either direction with a 3ft ratchet, fuel came out of #8 so that clued me in on where to start looking when i took the oil pan off. Got the engine on the stand and sure enough, bent #8 rod. Crank and everything looks great, as of right now im planning on buying another connecting rod with rods and main bearings and beginning re-assembly. Ive never dealt with a hydro-lock condition of any kind before and my question is do I need to be concerned of an "imbalance" issue with adding a foreign rod into the rotating assembly or are production weights pretty close? Would an aftermarket damper handle an issue if there would be any? Any and all help is appreciated :fordoval:
