Hi guys, heres my scenario ive had in this last month. I have an 08, im not sure of the job # but im pretty sure its an early 08 looking at components production dates. I had head gaskets let go about 3 weeks ago. Got the truck tore down and fixed. Took it out on a few small test drives and checked for leaks, everything looked good. Then i decided to take it on a 20 or so mile round loop and come back. In the middle of the test drive rail pressure started dropping, and a solid cloud of raw fuel was pouring out of the tail pipe. I kicked it in neutral and started to drift off the side of the road, while it was coasting it loaded up a cylinder and THUD. I got the truck back to the house via flat bed (that broke down as well, haha) and began tearing into it again. Took the injectors and glow plugs out and rolled the engine as far as i could either direction with a 3ft ratchet, fuel came out of #8 so that clued me in on where to start looking when i took the oil pan off. Got the engine on the stand and sure enough, bent #8 rod. Crank and everything looks great, as of right now im planning on buying another connecting rod with rods and main bearings and beginning re-assembly. Ive never dealt with a hydro-lock condition of any kind before and my question is do I need to be concerned of an "imbalance" issue with adding a foreign rod into the rotating assembly or are production weights pretty close? Would an aftermarket damper handle an issue if there would be any? Any and all help is appreciated :fordoval:

While your in there, might as well throw a good set of pistons and if you can swing it upgrade the rods. Just my .02

i somewhat agree on cut and coated pistons but rods in a stock fuel truck i 100% dont see the need unless major upgrades are being considered down the road.

I came real close to buying pistons and cam, but I'm just gonna do an ext wastegate and air dog with upgrade. As bad as id like to, I'm gonna keep this money back for property... I'd hate to do all that then need a tranny all of the sudden. I'm just gonna keep it low key for now then get things together for a big build. I'm still on stock air n fuel so it wouldn't really benefit me at the moment

So I ordered main and rod bearings, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the bed plate main bolts are torque to yield or are they reusable?

I apologize for any offence, but this truck is not just a cruising toy that I'm ho-hummy about whenever it goes down. I posted when I arrived at the local ford parts room and was asked about those bolts. So I guess I was in a rush at the moment but I wanted to order them then if I could. A half hour seemed quite longer then it actually was. I'll try not to let it happen again. Thanks fast-6.0 for the input
