Rods can be reused, heads can be machined, are you talking just decking the heads, valve seat work?

The block can be bored out, ford sells .010, .020, .030, and .040 over pistons to machine it for damage

both, i think my heads might need to be decked and valve seat work can be a possibility. but if you do anthing over a standard piston do you have to do anything to the head? and ive always thought the rods were one time use but guess not... that saves alot of trouble

I know a lot of guys that have done builds that have used the same rod over again for the build...i'd give Rudys or a shop a call just to double check

Heads can have both done easily, and nothing has to be done to the head to do anything over a standard bore

rods can be reused as long as they are not bent. if you take to much off the block and heads you will need to run a thicker head gasket to make up the different lost or the piston will hit the head. we use copper head gaskets on both our ranger 6.0 and f150 6.4and both work perfectly.

How much can be taken off the heads or deck before clearance becomes an issue. Seems like an easy way to pick a few extra hp by bumping the compression up just a tad. Its 17.5/1 now, why not 19 or so.
