2008 with 144,xxx miles and I have spartan tunes on it and anything above the 40 hp tune and in 6th gear it will slip. Also every once in a while when shifting the clutch petal will only come back up half way and you have to take you foot and pop it back up the rest of the way then after that it's normal for a while, is that a slave cylinder going bad?
Only company's I know of are South bend and Valair. Who makes a good all around clutch, This truck will be around 450-500 and all its getting is International coated pistons and possibly Tow powers, studs, and some other little misc stuff. Keep in mind this is just going to be a towing truck so what clutch is out there that you guys like?

Southbend 3600, best clutch around

Why do you say the 3600 vs. 3250 or 3850? Being a vendor, have you driven all of them on a 6.4?. Obviously the 3850 is heavier duty so the trade-off is probably slower shifting the 3600 and the 3250 is lighter duty (but still a stout clutch) and I assume the 3250 shifts a little quicker than the 3600. If you have driven all of them on a 6.4, has that been your experiences?

38 serious is cumbersome and overkill for 95% 6.4 owners. The 3250 is a very soft clutch, but feels almost identical to a 3600. Pedal feel, street ability is exact same, and noise qualit. The 3250 can also start to show wear on a truck making over 600. So if you have a truck that makes 570, and you throw on a 71mm, you could excede the limits of your clutch you just paid 1800 for. When in reality, you could have had the exact same street ability, and pedal feel, for the same price, and only had to pay once.

3600 FTW

Ok, thanks. I was hoping you rode/drove all of them for a comparison. Good info to know.

He never really answered outright the question if he had them or not.

A friend of mine has a south bend 3600 I think it is. With extensive re work of the hydraulic system, replacement of the release arm and bearing because the ones south bend sent him were ****ing WRONG an then a subsequent replacement of the pressure plate...

It's still clunky and sucks to drive.

Excuse me for not elaborately answering it in exact detail

I have a 3600 in my truck. A customer of mine ran a 3250 with stock fuel and a 71 slipped it anything over 3/4 throttle.

I've also driven trucks with a 38 and 32 series, there's a HUGE difference between them, but between the 3600/3250 is unnoticeable. Both have a better pedal feel than a stock clutch, with smooth engagement.

The 3800 makes it harder to shift faster, anyone whose driven one can tell you that, they are also much louder, with a stiff pedal. Putting one in a fairly stock truck is absolutely pointless, it's like throwing huge injectors in a 12v, you may have the biggest and baddest parts, but you've accomplished nothing except having a "biggest and baddest complex"

Please note. This is also based on southbends NEWER design 3600 clutch, aka the one you would get if you ordered a new one from them right now.

If anyone doesn't believe me, please feel free to call me and I will drive the truck to work and your more then welcome to drive it around the lot

Does that fully answer the questions asked for you?

I have the newer style 3850 and love it. The shifting speed was kicked down a notch but I have bigger plans with the truck and I know she won't slip on me.
