7.3 dorman manifolds with miles?

Looking for input from guys that have tried them, have some miles, and/or abuse on them.

I have never had anything from Dorman that worked for mare than 30 days.
Back in the day, they were a good company, but now, they aren't worth a crap.
I would not even use Dorman Windshield Washer Fluid. No clue if they make that, but you get the point.

there is a couple guys on here using them with no issues, I think the biggest deal was using oem manifold bolts, throw the ones that come with them in the trash

I have and do use some dorman stuff, but agreed, even 10yrs ago their stuff was much better.

I have used probably a dozen sets of their 7.3 up-pipes and they have been fine. Lots of random things, such as, wheel studs, some sensors, etc.. have been ok.

However, my concern is they won't be cast heavy enough and want to warp from heat. In which case, I would be pissed I chanced it. Something a little more accessible I don't mind to give a try, but in this case, not so much.

I've used up most of my good oem manifolds or it wouldn't even be a ?. This particular engine even needs at least 1 of the valve covers from rust. :doh:


The salt is another concern. If they don't warp from heat, but still not heavy enough, then the salt will kill them in a few years. I'm just guessing here, I've never even had one in my hands.

Back on track....I have 14K on the Dorman passenger side manifold but the exhaust manifold bolts came from Int'l.

I don't usually pay attention to brand names, but Doorman is one I remember for HORRIFFIC quality. If you are going to spend more than 5 minutes labor on a job, I would not waste my time using their stone-age Chinese garbage.

had it warrantied...reinstalled...cracked same day...

Motorcraft installed and running fine for months now.

I've had a couple buddies with these have similar problems. Swapped out for motor crafts and never had an issue since. Along with manifolds, their up pipes that were dorman chit as well.

have it ceramic coated, I did my up pipes I got from billy, and we don't have issues of salt, but I wanted them to look nice for years to come, not all rusty, so I'm sure you could have them coated and be just fine for salt or rust.

I have had mine on for 80,000. My passenger side cracked upon install. Josh at RCD brazed it back together and I surprisingly haven't had any issues since. I would not buy them again though

Thanks for the responses. The cost and extra time for ceramic coating is not an option. I was skeptical to try them and am glad I asked first. I have one oem manifold I can make suffice for this situation instead.

We service a fleet of savanna 3500 box trucks. They have lq4's in them and a few months ago we put a engine in one. We put new dorman manifolds on it. One is already cracked in half.....
