I've started this thread from broke down needing help. I picked up a 2000 f250sc/lb 2wd with 223k miles to swap engines in my 01cc/sb4x4. This truck is all stock as far as I can tell. Factory downpipe and exhaust, wheel size and tire size. It's been hit in back of the cab and front of the bed is caved in but very drivable. It runs really good, lots better than mine has since I've owned it. I really want to see my 01 run like it's supposed to and if I trade or sell it I want the people to be getting a good truck.
I have a new non ebv pedestal with hi flo outlet, new IDM on my 01 engine that I'm going to have swapped on the 00. I'm going to remove the bed and have it stripped and painted and remove the tank and do the sump with prefilter and water seperator also reg return fuel syastem and fuel bowl drlete. Ll the coolers have been flushed or replaced new and tranny had hd upgrade with 90k miles 2 years left on warranty. I picked up a ts 6 pos chip for 100$ with selector knob. I've thought about doing glo plugs while it's out also. Only thing I'm undecided about is with the chip, gauges,s&b intake and exhaust what turbo upgrade to go with. I've read a little about the ats housing upgrade. Have any of you guys had experience with this and is it worth it? Should I rebuild the stock turbo with billet ww2? I know the gtp 38r is probably the best upgrade but I wonder if it's worth the $ without upgrading injectors. A little input here guys would help. If I do decide to keep the truck and keep my old engine I can do a 500hp build and buy parts a little at a time till I hsve everything ready to instàll. But for now what would y'all do?

Lol! Gotta tell this one. My friend and I decided to head back with this truck and he's following me in my lil s-10 and trooper comes to halt going by me. Gets in behind me and pulls me. No tags! I told him I just bought it showed him the title and bill of sale and license. He said take off & be careful. Then we got talking about his 6.0. God Bless Him!

Ok, my mechanic got my engine swap finished today. In unfortunately the new idm that was installed on my truck back in October was bad. It only lasted a week. I won't mention the name of the company cause sometimes things happens. My mechanic has one to put in it and it will be returned and shipped back. I don't think it would make a difference being a 2000 engine in a 2001 truck from a 2wd to a 4wd.
My mechanic charges 1000$ to swap out an engine and 500$ to pull the the other engine. I had him to install the irate regulated return and I built my own sump and pre filter with post water separator bought from a local hydraulic shop. The mechanic didn't know anything about this system and he's probably got a day and a half labor just on the system.my advice to anyone doing this system would be go ahead and buy a complete system and install it yourself or a performance shop that's familliar with it. Not counting labor @850$ with the factory pump. And I bought all the parts up front and all the running around. I'm guessing labor will be @300$ for fuel system install. So 1150$ just for that. I suppose that's reasonable. Considering the fuel bowl was leaking like sift.
Now there's the 01 engine. There hasn't been a diagnosis of why there was no compression while cranking. With engine out on the stand by turning the crank the cam shaft and hpop are working and pressure is coming out the exhaust. The idm is at this point being the culprit to the no start issue. I suppose a ring or dropped valve could be culprit but me not being a mechanic I'm not educated to say.
We haven't set a labor cost for the 1000$swap because he's interested in the engine. However he said today he really didn't need it and asked what it is worth to me. Now I do know a decent running 7.3 engine is worth with 200k miles would be worth @8 to 1200$. Being mine has issues unknown except ipr valve, cam pos sensor and Icp are good along with turbo that is all worth at least 800$ to me. Breaking the engine down and rebuilding would be be an awesome learning experience. Which to me is worth a lot. I think 500$ and my engine plus the rest of the other truck plus I gave him a good intercooler degas bottle,2 transmission coolers and supplied all the parts and fluids and the running is fair price. Or 1200$ and I take the engine and factory turbo. Plus all piping.
That being said he switched out a good injector for # 8 with a new one I bought. Plus he installed my non ebv pedestal and hi flow outlet. Since he does rebuild trucks to sale also what would be a fair price for this installation? And keep in mind there's no warranty except for parts I've bought.

Well I'm pleased with the outcome of the swap. My mechanic did me right on price. I gave him and his workers a xmas present to boot. After I get my seat belts installed and airbags programmed in heading to Indiana to visit my friend who's lost a dear friend. And most likely catch a shutdown at GM thru xmas. Still haven't installed the chip but I suppose I'll get that done tomorrow to.
What's next for my build? 20" rims and tires with a coil spring front. Paint job and interior upgrade with stereo. Tuner is definitely in the future to help with tire size and gear ratio. Special thanks to performance diesel shop in High Point NC for there help and future help. And to all the guys on here for your input. I'll post up pics tomorrow.

All together my truck is doing good. As far as the engine goes it's great. I'm having issues with power windows, door locks and power mirror switch. Also I don't think the block heater is working. My headlights are not wired right either. The guy that did body work cut my adapters off for 05 headlights so I'll just have to get in there and do some troubleshooting. I'm also working on my viair compressor and tank. Just have to figure out the wiring for the pressure switch. I have cab lights to install and tranny temp gauge to install. I'll get an appointment soon to have my Ts chip reflashed and hopefully I'll have all lil issues fixed at that time.

I had them before but the guy cut them off and threw them away. So all I have is wires. No factory connectors. I bought sockets for the lights that go in the 05's and soldered the wires to connect. I'm going to order the factory connectors for the 01 and the adapters for the 05. This way it should be right. So I agree 100%!

Yes it was. I had to fix that. That was taken last week. I opted to use my 01 bumper with the 05 grill and drop my bumper down. I have made something to fill in under the headlights. Just haven't been able to install yet. Hopefully today I can get a few things done. We used a blackout chrome kit on the bumper. It looks pretty good but the paint didn't stick very good. I'll end up buffing it out back to chrome. Eventually I'll buy new grill and headlights and build my own bumper. Also a new paint job with gun metal gray at the bottom and white with bush whackers

I installed my transmission oil temp gauge yesterday and installed my cab lights. I'm pretty sure my drivers window motor is bad and while diagnosing that my wiper motor started making a loud racket. So I guess that will have to be replaced. I got my viair compressor plumbed up and wired it up according to the spec online. I used a 40 amp relay and it says wire small red wire from pressure switch to ignition. So I just connected to a hot wire and nothing. If I connect the pressure switch direct hit I hear it connecting inside. Also when I straight wired it ran fine but took a long time to get pressure up to 150. When I put on 3/8 ratchet air tool and hit trigger it took it down fast. I have a 5 gal tank. I suppose I'll either have to go with a 2 1/2 gal tank or use 2 200psi compressors. Anyone using this setup? Or have an idea how to wire up? I'm wondering if compressor might be worn or need some serviceZ
