If you're on the fence about installing it don't worry about it and just do it! No it is not locked up 100% of the time and it is no louder than the EOM clutch. I pulled 12k with it this weekend driving 60mph into a 35mph head wind and 82ish degrees and it stayed at ECT 195 and EOT 201 and didn't budge. This by far is the best mod I've installed and well worth the 133$ Amazon sells the adapter and the Hayden HD 2835 clutch = 133$ Total.
