Gonna depend on the width and offset of the wheel. I've seen 40x15.50 toyo's on a skyjacker 8.5" with minimal trimming, but they were squeezed on a 10" wide wheel with a -19 offset.

I really have no idea, but is that safe to run a tire that large on a 8" wide wheel? Again just asking?
I wouldn't think that it wouldn't hurt. I had 38.5×15.50r15 SS TSLs on 15×10 rims on my old Toyota. It says on the tire itself that the recommended wheel size is 15×10. So his rim being 2" narrower and the tires that he wants to run being 2" narrower should equal out the same (5.5" difference). Unless it being a taller rim changes something?

I'm running 38x15.50R20 Toyo M/Ts on a 20x10 (-19) and have pretty much no rubbing issues on an 8" kit (7" Icon with TEI). I think it might rub a little on the control arm at full lock in certain situations, and we had to grind down the bumper bracket in the front a bit, but didn't trim anything at the back corners of the wheel well. I'm debating going to 40" Toyos. I'll need to trim for sure, but I think it could fit. I think I would like the way the 40s would look better than the 38s(they seem a little too small with this much lift on these trucks), but I am enjoying not having it rub every time I turn into a parking lot.
