Alright on my 94 PSD when you go to start it it fires right up, sometimes the wait to start light comes on and sometimes it doesnt. Now when shutting the truck off, if you turn the key back to kill it nothing happens. the instrument cluster turns off but the engine keeps running. While the truck is running with the key on the truck will just randomly die just like you turned the key off but it fires right back up. Now im sure all of this is related so does anyone have any idea?

idk, If its a bad switch why would the instrument cluster and everything else shut off except the engine?

That I have no answer for.. I hope somebody will chime in soon..

On Edit: Could still be a relay. Or a Bad connection somewhere..

If it is the switch how does it come apart? or where is the switch, is it in the steering column, ive never had this apart on these trucks. Also it seems my alternator isnt putting charge back into my batteries now, it was last time i drove it but isnt now, could this also be the switch not turning something on fully? Its really weird, everyday it seems something else goes.

Check the connector on top of the alternator. Can get loose and not complete the circuit to the lamp in the dash to charge the batteries.

Here is what I have on the ignition switch.

REMOVAL
NOTE: The following procedure applies to vehicles that have functional lock cylinders and keys. If key numbers are known, the proper key can be made.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder.
(1) Position the lock cylinder to RUN.
(2) Using a suitable tool, push upward on the cylinder release tab through the hole in the lower shroud while pulling the cylinder outward.
INSTALLATION
Install the ignition switch lock cylinder by turning it to the RUN position. Insert the ignition switch lock cylinder into the steering column housing. Make sure the ignition switch lock cylinder is fully seated and aligned in the interlocking washer before turning the key to the OFF position. This will permit the retaining pin of the ignition switch lock cylinder to extend into the hole of the steering column.
Rotate the ignition switch lock cylinder, using the key, to ensure correct mechanical operation in all positions.
Reconnect the battery ground cable. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
