94.5 throttle seems delayed

I've got a 94.5 7.3 and the throttle seems like it's lacking. I have to push it down at least half way to get it to rev up, sometimes more. It also idled at like 800-900 rpm. My 95 idles at 650, just like the valve cover says. I've looked around and everybody talks about a dead pedal, nothing about a delayed or not very responsive throttle. Also nothing about the higher idle. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of pedal travel without the engine reving up IS dead pedal. Your Idle Validation Switch is out of adjustment. The tab on the pedal linkage is too close to the switch, making for a lot of travel before the switch operates and allowing the PCM to sense the Throttle Position Sensor.

You can try to bend the tab away from the switch, its pretty stiff steel though. You can listen and hear the switch clicking when you press the throttle pedal and when you release it. When you increase the clearance the pedal will click with less travel to make it operate. When you only hear one click then its too far away from the switch. Then decrease the clearance until you hear ta click when pressing the pedal and once when releasing the pedal. Repeat several times per adjustment to be sure its repeatable.

This MAY also clear up the fast idle or the Throttle Position Sensor may be bad.

Its easiest to remove the pedal assembly and try it out on the bench.

I tried what you said and it made no difference. I also had another good working pedal from a 95 F-250, so I swapped that in and it made no difference. I notice one thing about this truck. When I start it, it revs straight to 950rpm, that's when the pedal is half dead. When it warms up or starts to move temp gauge, the truck idles down to 650rpm, and the pedal comes back to working properly.
