So beings Dana 60's are hard to fInd in my area I was thinking.... Why not get a set out of an early Sd? I don't care about the ride I just want a solid axel in the front. Plus I would gain a whole new wheel selection.

So what would it take to swap them in?

i cant imagine that it would be all that difficult, some more fabricating and maybe less bolts ons to make the swap. youd have to swap front and rear to keep the same bolt pattern, but that gives the option to go much newer and get big breaks and disc. thought of an 05+ front end and going coils? easier lift options if thats a plan at all, and a better ride.

If I were going to go through with doing an axle sway I would use 06 Sd axles. Mainly for the front axle. Coil springs and trac bars. Ive personally ridden in an OBS with 06 axles and it was amazing. Also with no lift its about 2-3 inches higher then stock OBS axles and suspension. Definatly feels like a minorly lifted truck. And turns on a dime.

Look at this way.... Coils are better all around... Now that being said you can't beat the simplicity of leaf spring setup.. All I can see for being the hard part about doing it all will be drivelines and getting the proper axel angle! Other than that it's making spring pad that fit

I can take some pictures if needed and will try to answer any questions you have. CaryT aka OBSWIZ is who coached me through my swap.
