Which way is better to get coil suspension in the older SD? Would buying used suspension from an 05 be the best option? Are there upgrades to the 05 suspension that one should buy instead of OEM?

I have been looking at doing this swap for some time and now I can actually afford it so was wondering if we could put into a list what one needs to get the swap done.

My recomendation is to try to get all of the parts you can off of a wrecked truck. You dont absolutly have to replace the rear axle, if you dont it will just leave the rear track width a little less than it would be with the newer axle.

If you choose to run the truck at stock height than there is nothing that has to be upgraded other than wheels.

I do think the swap will be easier with a 05 to 07 axle versus the newer trucks.

you're right....you don't have to replace the rear axle...which is why I said OR USE WHEEL SPACERS....the swap is really not all that difficult to do/figure out. the spring buckets primarily use your 99-04 shock mount area to mount, the radius arms and radius arm brackets are the hardest thing to figure out where they go and than don't forget your sway bar.

good luck and have fun! are you planning on lifting it or leaving it stock height?
