just curious what these readings mean I took off my truck.

at idle

38 low 275 high 50 degree temp at the vent, 101 degrees out side 30% humidity

at high idle chip setting approx 1100
28-30 low 260/265 high with 44 degrees temp at vent 101 degrees outside 30% humidity

I know its hot outside, I know humidity affects cooling, any way to get it a tad colder?

Now at night its no problem, damn truck makes my teeth chatter, got down to 38 last night at 10pm.

thanks
chris

you can bypass the heater core, so you arent cooling heated air. i think dieselsite sells a kit to do it. someone will chime in thats done it

you could bring it to a credible shop have them check it, make sure its running at peak efficiency. maybe it could use a recharge, im kinda just thinking out loud here

well, the reason i ask is I'm trying to learn this on my own. I have a robinair digital evac system so I'm trying to learn it from the ground up. I can pull the freon, contain it, evac it etc. so I'm wanting to know what the next step is.

I will take it to a shop if I don't come up with a solution, just trying to learn a thing or 2

not sure I follow you, but it can pull a vacuum, contain the refrigerant, recharge, it has a digital readout for time of vacuum, lbs removed and installed etc.

The pressures and temps look really good.

If I did anything, and the heater core mod has already been done, I'd evacuate the system and let it sit in deep cycle for a good while. Maybe an hour. Then recharge it.

ok I'll try that. the book I have showed those as right where they need to be, but I didn't know if there was anything to get it a touch colder. Maybe tint the windshield, lol.

thanks for the help

:whs: The pressures look good. check your fan clutch and make sure it is working properly. If you don't get enough air flow across the condenser then your high side could creep up on ya a little and not let it cool as much. you can pull the vac and recharge with the correct amount of freon. Of course if it has too much oil it wont cool like it should. Tinting your windows as dark as you can always helps keep it cooler inside.

so what is the way to test the fan clutch?

If you try to turn it by hand with engine off, its pretty hard to turn, is there any other way to test it? I know some people say they can hear it come on, but I've never heard anything different than what it always is.

Do you have the A/C pressures & temps chart for these trucks? Care to share? I want to pressure test mine before I try to take it in. I'm pretty sure it's still R-12.

mine has 134 also, never had r12.

I don't have specifics to these trucks, just general rules for all vehicles.

You might want to check you evaporator core. If your in a lot of dust it can clog up and ristrict the air flow and make it not blow as good.

That's about the only other thing every thing else looks good
