A Few Little Projects

Hey Everyone,
I'm just looking into doing a few little things to my 97 F250. Its a ECLB. And I'm interested in any info anybody has on ony of these projects.
First I'm interested in trying to install an overhead console with a compass and thermometer like the explorers and F150s have and I'm not sure what I need or how hard it would be to do.
Second I've heard that it is possible to install turn signal mirrors from a full size bronco onto my truck and wondered again what I would need and how hard it would be.
And third I'm wondering about the pros and cons of deleting my back pressure valve.
Any info anyone has would be helpful.

I see your fairly new so welcome!

I cant really help you on the overhead console although I know that it is possible. Lots of guys run the Centurian packages in thier trucks. You can also get a rear view mirror from a Explorer or a Excusion I think, that shows temp and direction. Just needs wired in correctly and a temp sensor.

It is possible to install the RARE bronco nemo mirrors with the turn signal in them. If you have a set. HOLD THEM DEAR. If you dont you best start looking now. They woul djust need wired in through the mount on the door and to a power sourse and tapped into the turn signal curcuit. Simple.

The EBPV, exhaust back pressure valve, is easily deleted. Its not a neccessity depending on where you live but as long as your glow plug system is in full working condition your truck will have no problem starting in cold weather. I deleted mine when I pulled my turbo off for a rebuild. And I also at the same time swapped exhaust housings from the stock 1.15 a/r to a 1.00 a/r housing. (not a neccessity). The EBPV is located, bolted to your exhaust housing of your turbo and before the downpipe. Disconnect the downpipe from the turbo/EBPV and then you should be able to un bolt the EBPV housing from the turbo itself. Unhook the actuator from the linkage taht goes into the EBPV. Its just a flapper inside of there. I cut mine out with a dremal and threaded a grade 8 plug into the whole that remained from the valve. Some people opt to buy the pre deleted EBPV housing. But its cheaper to do it yourself. The mechanical and electrical functions of the EBPV are inthe turbo pedistal. You could if you really wanted to, also gut the pedistal. But thats not needed. You can as well, buy a pre gutted pedistal. But be warned it is a pain to get the turbo out if its your first time. I personnally left my pedistal alone. You can unplug it and just let the actuatot arm hang there. The truck dont know that the EBPV is actually gone. One thing though that people do that keep their EBPV is they hook it up to a switch in cab to come one and off when they want, to use it as a Exhaust brake. It does in fact work but only to a certain extent. Its not mindblowing stopping power or anything. Just an option.

Explorer / Bronco overhead consoles are easy to add. I have an explorer console in my 97. Simple install, only 7 wires. And the bronco console installs the same. Its just longer, and more rare to find. There are always a few on ebay though.
