Accelerating hard, spinning the tires, then it missed a shift

A friend of mine and I did the 1,2,3,go thing. Truck was roaring, spinning but pulling hard, then it missed a shift, big overrev into limiter territory, I let off and it caught the gear and continued on. I think it was a 2-3 shift.

Truck's in the signature.

WTF?

Yea, I was holding brakes and giving it enough throttle to begin to push thru just as '...go', released the brakes and gave it full throttle. :D

It's not something I do often, but it was a decent launch.
Better than I did at the tractor pull anyway.

Was the traction control on? If traction control is active there is a whole different set of shift points the ecm follows as well as throttle position (the ecm kills it) so it is likely that it didn't miss a shift, more that it shut the truck down. I have done it a couple times. it takes for ever for it to reset which is frustrating.

I hit the button, but honestly can't remember if I verified it went out.

Gotta hold it for freaking EVER before it's completely off. If you just hit it once, it won't be completely off and will do exactly that.

I second this and have had it happen several times with the traction control only partially off.... Scares the chit out of a guy when it happens and you start thinking this is gonna be expensive lol.

grrrr
stupid technology

probably gonna get worse too

:)

I put a set of short gusset OUO's on and make sure traction control is fully off. Haven't had it happen in over a year now! Traction bars I would HIGHLY recommend... Lots of axle wrap with hard launches and towing with these trucks.

Ive had my truck miss a shift a few times. Has never done it under hard power. It did it stock and does it tuned just left off the gas and it will catch the gear.

I wish I could just turn it off for good, traction/stability control in a damn truck is just stupid imo...

I've read something about an option in the ford scan tool that activates a Law Enforcement setting disabling the traction and stability control, but it also kills the convenience lighting when the doors open.

"Police Dark Mode" only disables the interior lights on door opening, it doesn't affect TC or AdvanceTrac. I keep my trucks in dark mode because the light annoys me. It works great to keep from blinding your night vision equipment :naughty:

As for the AdvanceTrac itself, it can be disabled in tuning.

Thanks for clearing that up. Do you have access to the e-locker, too?

Not currently, but that thing really pisses me off with the 20mph limit. It's in the body control module. On the drawing board as I have spare time simply because it infuriates me.

Advanced track is nice though. I feel better with it handing the keys to Someone. It works really good...

It would be nice to have a setting in your tuning to turn it off. But also have the option to keep it on.

It would be awesome to be able to tune the advance Trac off. I would love to have it automatically off unless you pushed the button to activate. Although I would be happy to just ****** it all together while not affecting abs.

Just throw the ABS fuse on a toggle and turn Advancetrac off at will. It definitely sucks that holding the button for 8 seconds only 1/2 kills it. My junk won't even do a donut on the beach. lol
