Ive been looking for a 2wd standard cab truck and all I can find is basic xl packages. The problem is I want all the good stuff. IE. power windows mirrors and locks. So my question is. Are the wiring harnesses the same on manual and power options. Like can I find a wrecked truck to pull the doors off of and bolt them on? Id even love the folding mirrors!

I think you have to change the gem module/ fuse panel under the steering column, along with the entire interior wire harness. Not completely sure though, you may only need to change out that fuse panel and plug into the harness thats already there. I can't imagine its to difficult, as universal as everything else is from one superduty model to another.

You can get an aftermarket kit for about $700 installed for the pl and pw. Jason at G Racing is actually putting some power doors in my truck though. I'll let you know how he goes about it when he gets to that point.

I did this in my 450. I will say that you will need the accessory wire harness from a truck with what you are looking to install. The doors are the same, you only need the hardware to go inside the doors.

I added power mirrors, power windows, and power locks to mine. Only thing I had to do besides install the factory wire harness is I added a fuse block behind the dash to power the 3. It was like $8 at napa and just ran a 10 guage power wire to it.

Only down side i could see to this is the windows will work even with the truck off and the key out. I like it though as when I forget to roll them up I dont have to turn the key back on.

If you have any other or more specific questions, just ask.

And that's nothing a keyed hot relay wouldn't fix. Good info!

This is all good info. As I wasn't sure if the Gem controlled the functions or if the switches did. But it sounds like a simple wire job and it could be done. .ow I just need to pull the trigger on buying the truck.
