adding steering wheel controls to a 99-2004 f250?

As the title says has it been done? I know a guy wanting to do this and I haven't found any sort of a writeup. He is mostly interested in the radio for the moment. is there a cd player deck that fits into the 99-04 dash that will work if the stock superduty unit won't?

most aftermarket radio/cd decks from bestbuy will with the adaptor wiring for extra$$.

While acceptable to most the main goal is to have a stock deck with added steering wheel controls and a low break my window or trash my door to steal the shiny stereo value... It is a xl work truck he just wants the added luxury
