Sorry for asking such a dumb question but for some reason I can't get it straight in my head, and don't want to F something up through trial and error.

Truck: 2000 SD. The wastegate seems to just stay open after shifting into OD. Not surge, I do have surge but thats at the upper end. This constant SHHHHHH sound is at 5lbs all the way up to surge at about 26lbs. Do I turn the lever in or out. BTW vac is unhooked.

Thanks.

Are you 100% positive you don't have a cracked boot?

You WILL NOT hear the wastegate when it's open.

I don't think it's a boot because it goes away in the lower gears. I can take off loaded at 20 psi and all it does is haul, as soon as it shifts into OD it starts. If you say 1 can't hear the WG and its not in the piping...?

I can hear my wastegate in my stack... But not through the comperssor side...

I think you're just hearing the start of surge. Mine did the same before I got the wicked wheel, it would start shhhhhhhhh and then if I would play with the throttle a bit, I could get it to stop for the most part.

ahhh crap! I thought surge was at the high end. Yah I can play with the throttle and get it to stop to. Did yours do it at a low boost?

Yes, it typically starts at low rpm/boost. It can happen any time though.

Yah... I'm believing it. I had to think it through to grasp. I never thought of the wheel as something that could wear, mine is so slick that it just won't grab the air. One thing that got me around it was it does it less on a warm humid day. I got a WW coming and hope to have it on soon. Thanks Jap!
