Okay, so I got my truck all buttoned up. Casserly 190/75's, PowerMax Turbo (for now), and a new AirDog 2 from PTP. The pump is the only thing giving me issues.

The pump is mounted at the lowest point possible on the frame mount, and it is still barely touching the bottom of the cab. It's unbearably loud in the cab too. Maybe stick some Dynomat between the pump and cab?

Also, the pressure never remains constant. The needle is constantly bouncing (verified gauge, it's not a gauge problem) and it will roam around from 65-75 PSI. I adjusted the regulator to run about 68-70 PSI. The pump also doesn't have a constant hum like I would expect, its almost pulsating, and it kinda goes along with the shaking needle. And everyone in a while, the pump will have a louder pulse.

I do not have a sump... YET. I plan on getting one of those low profile sumps I read about somewhere on here... For now I'll just keep it above a 1/4 of a tank.

Here's a video. It wasn't shaking too bad in this video, but you get the point.

Mine did it with a sump but worse airdogs fix was resetting the regulator but 2 weeks later the pressure went from 55 to 70 plus and once 90 on my 20 minute drive to work. Mines back in its box and you couldnt pay me too put it back on my truck

Delete the fuel bowl now! or at least block the stock return line and this problem should be solved. I had a truck doing this same thing for a while, they were fighting each other. I havent had one failure recently of an AD2 other than a failed wiring harness. Then set the pressure to 58-60 psi theres no need to put the extra stress on the motor.

Of course this may not be the fix but its easy to test.

Awesome, I plan on doing this. What do you recommend to block the return line? I plan on deleting the secondary filter (not entire assembly), blocking the return line, and adding a sump very soon.

Go to lowes/home depot and get a solid washer that will fit in there. Or yeah a beer can will work fi you dont want to drive LOL.

Its a good fix until you delete the bowl off the oil housing.

As long as the AD2 is set higher than the regulator on the regulated return it won't be a problem.

does the AD have a teflon check ball in the return line to regulate pressure? my fass was doing that and i ended up removing the check ball and spring and just putting an external regulator on my return line.

yeah I know this, this is why he has to block the return line, it disables the regulator. :toast:

They set the regulator on the return lower than the airdog. Set the regulator at 58 psi and the airdog at 62ish. This keeps the speed of the pump constant and doesnt over work it, and no fighting of the regulators. My buddies truck is setup like this and its been great for 30k.

Not to hijack, but I have a similar issue that crept up with my AD2. When I installed it I left it at the preset pressure for a while which settled in right at 45. I decided I wanted to bump it up a bit because with the Race X tune it dips to 43 or so, a little on the low side for me. The other night I adjusted the regulator and got it to sit round 58psi. The next morning I started the truck up and the FP was only at about 50. Throughout the day of starting the truck it ranged anywhere from 45-62psi. I have tried to reset the pressure with no luck...

My setup is still using the stock pickup tube, with a 1/2" line running to the AD2 unit, with a -8 line running up to a block (gauge port is here) where it splits off to -6 to the heads. So I have taken the stock regulator out of the system already. I called Airdog and talked with Kyle and he told me that the AD2 was not designed to be used without the stock regulator or a RR. I don't know what that has to do with my I get a different pressure rating each time I start the truck...
