I just finished my latest 6L as some of you may know. As with any build it took a few months to get all the bugs worked out and since then it's been perfect. That is until Monday morning...

It's been nearly a month of daily driving and I've noticed some days she will break loose at 40mph with the sun shining and other days it felt like I was loaded down with about two ton. Well, long story short I decided to hook up my in cab fuel pressure gauge since it was the last thing on my to-do list and it's had me terrified I was starving my injectors.

Immediately after starting the truck I noticed I had only 38-40psi. Thinking it was an air pocket in the line or something I went for a quick drive. 20psi WOT. Now I'm irritated so I crawl under the truck and crank up the pressure to the max. 26psi WOT. 33psi max at idle. by the time I made it home I was 30psi max at idle.

I had my hopes that all the bad luck people were having was resolved by the "New Upgraded Motor" but alas after 1000 miles on a brand new unit, it looks like the quality of Pureflow products just isn't what it used to be... Like always Pureflow is sending me a new motor but I'm not thrilled about having it die on me 1000 miles from home.

I have an Aeromotive pump on hand, but I'm not sure how to plumb it without having the pumps fighting each other. Anyone else using an AD2 unit with another manufacturers pump or do I just need to do what really don't want to do - sell it and go a different route?

I was in the same boat, I hate my airdog 2 and I'm on the 4th motor in a year and a half. You could turn it into a lift pump for the aeromotive , I think all you need to do is swap regulator springs so you can set it to around 15 psi.

If you have an a1000 do away with the AD. Feed the a1000 with a sump, h20 separator pre and filter post. Done deal.

That is assuming you have the a1000 and not a lower pressure pump made by aero

Yep. I'm running a Marty's Diesel setup using the Aeromotive pump. You could give him a shout and he can set you up with whatever else you need.

That's the route I plan on taking but I like the idea of airless fuel. I like the idea of using the AD2 as a step-up pump if it will work. Yes its the A1000 and the truck is an ecsb with a billet sump and 5/8" line feeding the AD2 then directly to the heads via a 1/2" line into two 3/8 braided lines. Regulated return and a vapor return to the tank from the AD2.

Hit me up. I can just replace the ad2 in your system for significantly less money then an entire system since you have most of what you already need.

Id go with martys fuel set up, I recently got his a1000 full system to replace this turd airdog 2. It's a real nice kit and Marty is a great guy to deal with.

I really like that ^^^ If I'd done a little more research I would've went that route since I didn't use anything from the AD2 kit besides the Airdog itself. I'm gonna go ahead and put this new "updated" pump on and hope it lasts at least until spring (since it's already snowing here) then replace it. but if it doesn't last that long I will be getting ahold of you.

Im on my 5th pump right now. They really need to change the design of the pump motor itself. Its the same pump for all applications chevy doge and ford....ford just runs more pressure and the pump motor cant handle the higher pressures over time. Also the orings in the regulator blow often. When the pump works its a nice set up. But they never ladt long. I cant believe pureflow is still in business. Ive gotten 4 free motors in the last couple years myself let along everyone else.
