Would there be any improvement over the 38r with 238/80's with either turbo as far as spool ability and towing? Thinking about switching over to a T4 setup

If you don't go over 80% nozzles you probably won't notice much, if any improvement. With matts tuning, he should have your setup pretty much dialed in as it's pretty popular.

If you want to go t4, you have a lot more options. A lot of guys say the basb does everything the 38r does, just better. I don't have any personal experience with the basb tho.

If you want more power and bigger nozzles I would skip the 366 and go with the 468. I like mine. Borg Warner did just come out with an upgraded 366 and a 369 that I'm kind of curious to see how they work with the ol 7.3.

yeah been thinking about bumping my 238/80 to 250/200s . Just seems like i fall under the turbo when towing but that can be the 35's i think. I have a guaranteed buyer if i were to sell the setup im running now to my dad with his excursion

talked with barder and he said the 366 would be a pretty big improvement over the 38r

James definitely knows his stuff. I'd go with his advice. He went from a 366 to a 468 on his personal truck...

You will be better off just having 200% nozzles put on your 238/80's, the 12cc of difference between a 238's and 250's wont be any different.

The s468 is a great turbo, spool great, tows great, that's the turbo to have for hybrids up to 350/200's.

Are 230/100 enough for the s468? Or 200% nozzles required to get fast spool for a daily driver?

Yup like he said, and if you planned on running smaller injectors with an s468 you could run it with a .90 housing for a while then if you put something big in you can swap just the housing out for a 1.10.

Check out this old thread about 200% nozzles.

http://powerstrokearmy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3506

Most those guys did a lot of their own tuning. Keep in mind this was 4 years ago and tuning has made even more progress since then. It may take a few shots, but any of the reputable tuners on this site should be able to get 200% dialed in. Of course live tuning is the best.

ever since i've had these 238/80's ive had a hazing at idle. I think one is taking a dump cuz i have an intermittent faint miss that comes and goes. Did a compression test and everything was 400-450 psi. So i figure if i'm gonna send them out might as well up them a bit

You talk to Gearhead about that?
Yep pretty in depth with Matt about that and high egts and he tried tweaking it a bit and didn't help. If I let it idle ten min then get rolling it'll leave a blueish gray haze

My vote goes to 468. Mine towed great and spools fast. Let me know if you wanna go for a ride and see for yourself.
