Blew apart my spider gears last weekend and sent some pieces through the diff cover. Wondering what would cause it. I know the truck has had issues with axle warp don't know of that was the killer or just a wore out axle? Any input on would cause it. Going to be getting trac bars from pmf in case that is what broke it.

Yep, blew mine up twice. Got the replacement spiders and clutch pack from a place here in Fort Worth. Less than two hundred bucks.

Axle wrap will cause it as well as the lack of. If the axle is to rigid it can cause some problems. Especially with my other truck. The rear point of the traction bars were welded solid. 50ft posi did not agree with the spider gear pin about a day later.

Sent from my x2 somewhere

That is the only reason my traction bars are in the back yard and not on my truck. Until I weld the tubes to the housing, it will stay stock. So far I have not found anybody that wants to weld the steel tubes to the cast housing.

To do it "right" the entire axle needs to be removed from the truck and bolted into a big ass jig. Then welded small sections at a time. If you can get it to me, I can do it for you.

I ended up taking it to a shop and they charged 500 so it wasnt to bad. But if it happens again ill have to get a hold of you to find replacement parts.

And did you build your own trac bars?

Andy my dad welded my up with no problem, i just had the diff cover off to help release the heat and he used a different welding rod. It looked really good and held up for at least 100k of abuse before i sold it and no problems. But of course he went to school for a commerical welder just for a hobby.
