Just wanting to know what a realistic turnaround time and how durable the film is on a heavily trafficked part...like the switch panels and top of the steering wheel on a Platinum wheel. And since the OEM parts are a darker "wood" design and I want a black wood design can a tinted film just be applied over the stock stuff to make it look darker?
The main part I wonder about is the steering wheel...obviously you hang onto that every day so is the film gonna wear off in 6 months or so?

I'd be interested in a blackwood too....but I haven't been able to find the "look" I'm searching for.

In the old Southern Comfort Conversions they would do what they called "Blackwood" and it was really nice (it was a dip).

If I never came across it, ok....but if I could find it I'd be interested in that also.

I don't really worry about the switch panels or dash pieces...it's the steering wheel I wonder about. I really don't even like the top of the wheel....I've thought about swapping someone for a Lariat wheel.

We have all the equipment at Maxxed performance in Baytown but we haven't had time to set it up yet.

We've been slammed or it would be ready lol. We built a new booth for our painter and we need to move him over there so we can setup in his old spot. I might try to work on it this week bc I want to try some parts out too.

Switch panels should be fine. As far as an overlay on the steering wheel I'm going to say no because it needs a base to stick to. I am in Louisiana so Coleman would be right in your back yard. You could always try it and clear coat it.

Are you saying you do the dipping of stuff? What else do you do (paint/body/etc...)? I'm from Prairieville/Gonzales area. You near there? I will be looking to get some stuff done at some point.....

The Platinum steering wheels have a hard woodgrain top section...the base is there for it to stick to, I just wanna know if it'll stay stuck. lol

I'm actually gonna try to trade off that wheel for an all leather one then it'll be a non issue. I don't really like it anyway.

FWIW, I think a brand new all leather wheel for my 08 was only like $350. Even the Harley etc.. wasn't much more.

Could always have the platinum wheel dipped and have a back up if you didn't like it or it didn't last.

On edit. Went and looked on Tasca site, for a 14 looks like less then $300 for all leather, if they are the same as a 15.

I understand but I don't think it will stay but I have not tried it. When I say base it is like a primer. You spray it on then dip it with your chosen film. It is my understanding the film won't stick without it.

I am outside Livonia. I don't do paint or body work. I have had the equipment to dip for about 7 months but just haven't got around to it yet.

Oh ok...you're about 40 miles from Prairieville. Maybe by the time I'm back from this deployment you'll have your stuff fixed up and have it down pat. Will keep you in mind. Thanks.
