I had an idea. This summer I plan on doing a ported intake manifold and want it to remain factory looking. Guys say that if you unplug the valve when running a vgt turbo you'd lose some performance and it won't run as well as it should if it were plugged in. And I'm not one to remove it and let it hang/bounce around in the valley...that cheesey as all hell IMO. So I thought
Why not remove the bottom valve portion and bolt it back on? This way there's no valve protruding in the manifold and at the same time its acting as a block off plate while still being plugged in in the factory location. Or I suppose you could use a block off plate between the manifold and the top portion of the valve. But my big question is...with removing the valve portion from the manifold....will this allow for more port work to be done to the manifold to be worth it? Has anyone done this? Let me know what you guys think good idea or bad or worth it?

Here's what I did. I was thinking about using the RCD block off plate between the manifold and egr valve but then thought that there would be no need cause the top portion of the valve will be acting like one

Great idea and the answer is yes, it will allow for more material to be taken out.

Thanks Steve! I think that's what I'll do then. Only thing I'll leave factory is the coolant flow still going through it.

Sweet...it's ready to roll! Once I get RCD's billet converter and get some coin saved up...I'll give ya a holla!
