We just got our bench up and running and what great timing. I had a no start come in, wasnt building hardly any rail pressure and had HEAVY thick black/grey smoke out exhaust while cranking. Removed glow plug on suspected cylinder and the smoke stopped.

Keep in mind this is only a LEAK teast, this is NOT flowing the injector.

Disassembled injector and could not get the needle out of the nozzle, its frozen solid. So question is, this is just common fuel system contamination correct? I have done several fuel systems, but this is my first stuck open injector to be confirmed by our bench

Yes contamination will do that, water is a great killer of injectors and HPF's, thrown in some dirt...

Not good, I'd replace all the injectors and thoroughly flush the fuel system, replace the filters, drain the tank and get the HPF tested just to be sure it's not on it's way out or going to dump junk into your new injectors.

What codes were you getting?
