This is to let people know what I found out today the hard way. I have a 1997 F350 and it has been down about a month with CEL on. Got tired of waiting for a friend to come by to scan it. So I bought a new laptop, needed one anyway, and ordered the AE. Loaded it and could not get it to read. Called AE and found out right now it will not work with Windows 8.1. They said they are working on the problem and it will be fixed. But I gotta find a laptop that I can use to read CEL now.

That sucks, but ae works really well when you get it up and going. Their surropt is great also.

issue is that windows 8 sucks. for whatever reason ive used it 3 times and i can't find the most simple things like the control panel to change settings. ill keep this PC running vista and get a mac next.

Good to know, Momma ordered me up Auto Engenuity from Riff Raff for Christmas and the kids laptop is windows 7. Thanks for the heads up:thumbup:

Me too, I'm a slow kid with computers. When I get my AE up and running I'll share any hints or tip I find. I will more than likely be posting more questions than answers tho. :lookaround:

Where are you located? Maybe someone else can come give you a hand with your engine light.
Got ahold of another laptop today with Win7 on it. Loaded AE on it hooked to truck and it read it. But said no codes. But the CEL is lite up. Turn key off, back on and no CEL. Try to start truck and CEL comes on and stays on until I turn key off. This is driving me nuts.

Might be a dumb question but does your copy of AE have the enhanced ford bundle activated? If so when you connected to the truck did you select enhanced?

Sounds good will do. I've kept up with every single update. It has that dumb security dongle you have to plug in to use the tool. It sucks when you broke one of your USB ports on your computer lol but on a side note I'm sure AE will have a fix soon for windows 8. There team there is awesome and customer service has always been too notch.

take the laptop back to where you got it and tell them win8 sucks (they know this already) and that you need win7 instead
