I replaced my VDO gauges that were over 10 years old with Autometer Ford match gauges. (Trans temp, Boost 0-60 and EGT).

The EGT gauge is reading too high compared to the VDO. I'm easily pegging the the gauge or very close to. I did NOT cut the thermocouple wire, grounds are good. At idle, the EGTs will not fall below 300*. Also the Autometer gauge reacts way quicker than the VDO. I move the truck 100' (not flooring) and it's already up to 600*. Do I have a bad gauge and/or thermocouple? Anyone see this before?

Thanks

youre using the thermocouple provided with the new gauge? As a note, I've never seen EGTs below 300F at idle in any PSD Ive been in. Your old gauge may not have been right.

I suppose you could put the t-couple in boiling water and measure with the gauge.

I agree 300 at idol I would say your old gage was wrong. I would worry more about other things like mabe your new gage is correct? Where is your sensor located?

I've never seen below 300 at idle. I have had the factory match gauges since they came out. Never a lick of trouble.

Mine varies at idle depending on if it's a cold start or coming to a stop and idling.

Mine will drop to 400 pretty quick but if I let it sit for a minute it'll hit 350, don't remember ever seeing it lower other then right when I start it.

Mine will go from 1200 to 600 instantly as soon as I let out of the fuel. It'll drop just under 500 up to 45 mph. As soon as I set idle it drops down to 350ish.

This is about the norm for me too. I get my readings from my EAS probe used with my Insight CS.

I've never had any issues with pyrometers.

Analog gauge or the cts. They are all right inline.
