If I remove a Batmo wheel from a PowerMax and install the original PM compressor wheel, will balancing be required? If so, who has the ability to do something like that?

You should not need to balance that turbo with just a compressor wheel change. The turbine and shaft are balanced and the compressor wheel should be center balanced.

Your good, I got into a huge argument about this recently. The compressor wheel is component balanced.

Uh oh...didn't mean to open up another can of worms. Is there a nut on the compressor shaft? Torque?

why are you taking it off

I'm picking up a "new" truck this weekend that has a PM with a Batmo wheel. My tuner is not too fond of the Batmo and since he's never steered me wrong, I'm prepared to remove it. I'll be bringing the truck home with a new tune. Then I can remove the Batmo, run the truck with the same tune and the original wheel and see if it performs better. If it does, I won't be needing the Batmo.

Hey Jon(If I remember correctly), you would just need to pull the turbo, remove the compressor housing cover, and remove the wheel. IIRC it takes an 11/16 socket, and they are reverse thread. I use a rag to hold the tubinewheel still with my figers, and you might need to put a little heat on the tip of the wheel where the nut flats are because there is blue loctite on the threads. Installation is the reverse of removal, and definatly take your time. Let me know if there's anything else you have questions on that beast. There isn't too much I don't know about it inside, and out lol.
