How hrad are they to replace? Is this something that i can do at home or would it just be easier to pay to have it done? They look like a nightmare to get out.

If you do buy one don't cheep out on it I have a matco one and I love it. I've had cheep Harbor freight ones and I usialy snap them. There a good investment if you do balljoints

I haven't done many as of right now but I'm constantly doing little jobs for buddies and it would be handy. My brother works in a body shop so maybe he can get me a price on a matco or a snap-on

I have a otc ball joint press I have abused it for about 12 years now and never let me down. Don't know what it costs anymore but I would think you could get one with the right adapters for under $500

They have another tool distributor that comes in once a week but I'm not sure what brands he carries. He's also their paint materials supplier so he's usually quick about getting what they order and is fast with warranty issues too. Any preference on what brand ball joint to go with? I normally deal with napa but I want parts that I'm not going to have to replace again in 6 mos

I've used otc in the past in the body shop and always had good luck with it. I'll have to check it out Thanks!

I only get my parts from napa anymore I don't waste my time with the other places. If you get them from napa don't get cheap ones use the expensive ones and keep them greased and they will kast you a while

I usually use napa unless its an emergency or somebody just wants to be as cheap as possible. I think the parts are better quality and the price difference isn't enough to make the extra drive anywhere else

I will let you know how the "ball joint job" goes as I am doing it tomorrow. I am also doing coil springs, Spring boosters, shocks, and tie rods.

If you want quality heavy duty ball joints purchase the XRF brand ball joints. Only available online. They are superior in quality to every other ball joint I have ever seen. They are half the price of Moog by the way. I have a Central Pneumatics brand ball joint press with the master adapter set and have used it regularly for almost 10 years without a problem. If you abuse any tool you will break it no matter what brand it is.
